Shepard Smith Kicking Ass And Naming Names

Via Talking Points Memo:

Fox News’ Shep Smith is continuing to hammer Republican senators who wouldn’t pass the 9/11 first responders bill, this time calling out by name those who wouldn’t appear on his show to discuss the issue.

“We called a lot of Republicans today who are in office at the moment,” he said Monday afternoon. “These are the ones who told us ‘no’: Senators Alexander, Barrasso, Cornyn, Crapo, DeMint, Enzi, Grassley, Kyl, McConnell, Sessions, Baucus, Gregg, and Inhofe. No response from Bunning, Coburn, Ensign, Graham, Hatch, and McCain.”

He also reminded viewers of what happened in New Orleans. Shep, I love you.

Now pass this damn bill.

TV Jumble.

I was somewhat confused while watching Sunday night’s episode of Cold Case because Vera expressed befuddlement at anyone’s being upset over a female student enrolling at a previously males-only military institute. Oh really, Vera? This from the same guy who didn’t understand “lady soldiers.”

Fringe was renewed last night.

Before nymag.com can even tally up the points for last night’s episode, I want to say something. Jenny talking about Twilight? No. Jenny trying to share the sparkle with LILY VAN DER WOODSEN of all people? Nooooo. Minus 500 points.

I don’t get the point of In Treatment. It’s well done and all, but…why?

NBC is putting Joel McHale, John Oliver and Chevy Chase together in a show about community college. It’s called Community and it’s cramazing:

See also: Shepard Smith blows the ‘DHS is picking on the Tea Parties’ meme out of the water, for an example of how Shep insists on committing acts of journalism. And of course, Mr. Colbert’s response to Shep’s comments on torture:

And with that, Shepard Smith becomes the first individual since Gallner (and our patron saint McLuhan, of course) to have his own category.

Somehow, while I wasn’t really paying attention, Shepard Smith has turned into someone I adore. This was not always the case. I used to dislike him. Fine, I thought he was a dbag. After all, he works for Fox News, the network that has provoked uncountable eyerolls from me and I’m sure he was responsible for some of those in the past.
